The last bullfight in Spain

The Catalan parliament in Spain declared the end of bullfights in their region by 2012. (here's the news in english y en español.) I can only imagine La Monumental on that last day of bullfights, the crowd, the celebration, the cheering. La corrida. Who will be the toreros that day? Habrá rejoneo?

Solo 1 (uno, one) diputado no estuvo presente en el voto. Quién? Cómo se pierde de este voto? Score was 55 for and 68 against, 9 undecided, and ONE missing, so even if the missing person and the 9 undecided voted for it, still the score would tilt towards a nay by 3. In such a matter, who votes undecided.

Anyway, the world is going to end in 2012, or is it?

selling on Etsy

I recently opened a store on Etsy, selling handmade bracelets. If you still haven't heard about Etsy, it is an old but well revamped concept by Rob Kalin.

You are reading my blog, so you have to visit my store, and buy anything you like once in there: www.mishky.etsy.com. (please).

So I guess you are asking yourself the same I had: who sells the most in Etsy?
Check it out at http://www.craftcount.com/

The highest seller, by far and consistently, is yadanabeads (http://www.etsy.com/shop/yadanabeads).

Etsy is supposed to be a venue for handmade items, but it seems to me that yadanabeads is not handmade, or is it? The following best sellers also sell similar items. Are those really handmade? What's the deal?

Anyway, I've spent too much time reading blogs, joining teams, placing ads on facebook and spreading the word. I finally made my first sale today! Wow. Awesome feeling.

A lot of patience is needed to achieve a sale. Need to keep at it, work really really hard, participate with everyone, and always drive traffic to the store.

Just as an observation: facebooks ads did not work. Spent some money on it, several days, and no sale from it.

Etsy is a nice idea. Seems like a simple venue, but it has a lot of tools. The conferencing tool is really cool. I feel that selling on Etsy is a bit expensive and I'm surprised so many people can afford it.

Anyone has an Etsy store? Experiences to share?

skinny or fat

Aquí una noticia de ya hace un tiempo atrás, pero que aun no pierde vigencia:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/6214168/French-MPs-want-health-warnings-on-airbrushed-photographs.html

Could it be really possible that girls everywhere are following these photoshop-enhanced pictures?

Take a look at this:

http://www.wonderquest.com/size-women-us.htm

The average weight of an American girl is 70kg. Isn't that a little over what these models weigh?
Currently, 34% of adult American women are defined as obese. Do you think that these models could help them loose some pounds?

These skinny, unnatural models are not inside my preferences in women, and I'm sure most med will agree, so girls: stop not-eating. BUT, stay away from those McDs.
